i have a 2001 black jimny. im looking into putting a 2" body lift on her and was wondering how i would go about it basically?! would i have to extend the brake hoses??

there is body lift kits available for the jimny & are easy-ish in install ive recently fitted one myself

whatever you do don't be tempted to buy one of them cheapo so called body lift kits off ebay for around £40 they are totaly useless.

you will need to get longer brake hoses i did anyway unless someone has another option that they know

i've been looking at the lift kits on jimnybits and offroad-armoury.

would the lift affect anything else?? for example my 4wd gear stick??

only other thing i had to adjust was the transfer lever as it would not quite go into 4l after the lift so a slight adjustment had to be made

I wondered the same however I found a FULL but expeensive kit on zanfi.it - but it shows you what they recomendd changiing for the lift ---- try not to look if your skint, it will just upset you as it did me lol
You also need to extend the fuel intake pipe by the look of it ( bit of pipe, 2 jubilee clips )

hi, i have a 1/34 spacer lift it was only £100 and didnt need to alter brake hoses or anything else.

is that a spring lift tho or a body lift a18suf? also got any pics and did you use shock relocators?

She has a spring lift and shock relocators are required to give the shocks an extra inch of length.

Body lifts are straight forward but you do get what you pay for.

The cheaper Ebay ones are simply polythene bushes and long bolts. Not only that but the longer bolts do not fit the Suzuki threads so you drill out the old ones and push the new bolts through, not very tidy. The more expensive kits have the proper threads so they fit the original Suzuki fittings.

Three areas need consideration for a body lift:

1. Steering spacer - the steering column may need a small extension in the joint.
2. Brake union - the brake union may be tight, the bodge trick is to leave it un-bolted in mid air.
3. Bumpers - you can get an ugly gap between the bumpers and the body. You need to consider moving the bumpers up.

Having said that they can be a cheap way forward. I have one kit available in the store which was a sample product, its the Bits$Vits body lift kit.

1 x Front Shock Absorber extensions (Suzuki Shocks ONLY)
1 x Rear Shock Absorber extensions
1 x Spring Spacers

for £140 plus delivery.

Is there any problem with using 2" spring spacers and a 3" sus lift at the same time to give a 5" lift?

you would need caster correction arms to suit a 5" lift at least
