Like a previous poster, my Jimny has just failed its MOT, and I am not sure I can afford to have it fixed, nor do I have the mechanical skills to do so myself. It is definitely worth something for spares/repairs though: four brand new all terrain tires (£150 each), recent suspension restoration, very tidy bodywork and interior. I have attached a photo below. I hate to copy and paste the previous poster, but I have the same questions:
1) what sort of price would it be worth? (details in signature)
2) what would be the best way to transport it to a buyer and roughly how much would I expect to pay?
3) are there any other options I have missed/anything else I should do with it?
MOT result:
Repair immediately (major defects):
Offside Rear Seat belt anchorage prescribed area strength or continuity significantly reduced floor (7.1.1 (a) (i))
Seat belt anchorage prescribed area strength or continuity significantly reduced boot floor (7.1.1 (a) (i))
Exhaust Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits (8.2.1.2 (c))
Exhaust carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle exceeds default limits (8.2.1.2 (b))
Basically because it's not road legal it's down at the scrap value end of the market and it's only real value is some parts. You can either break the car yourself to gain the most amount of money or sell to a Jimny breaker (Lamberts engineering springs to mind as one option) I don't know what a Jimny breaker would pay but I would guess a little over scrap value. I would expect whoever is buying the car to come collect it so transport will not be your problem.
