Hi all, I’m trying to find the correct catalytic converter for my 2000 X-reg Jimny. I’ve ordered two on eBay so far; one didn’t have the hole for the O2 sensor, so I’m returning that. The second one I’ve ordered seems to be shorter than the other one.
EBay is confused as to which ones fit my car, according to eBay my car is a 2001 model, which it isn’t. So I’m struggling to be sure which is the right one to use, and don’t want to go to all the effort of getting the old one out, potentially damaging it, only to find the new one doesn’t fit.
Can anyone advise which kind of pipe I should get for my car? Thanks!

I can't give you a correct part number but whilst suzuki did change the exhaust at various stages it's entirely reasonable that you don't have a completely original system fitted. That's a long way of saying it might be easier to fit a whole system from one supplier then at least it will fit with itself even if it isn't exactly what was there originally.

Try using your local motor factors. They will be able to find the correct part and should also supply a quality part. I've found with eBay stuff there often aren't enough cats in the converter and they don't pass MOT emissions tests.

Hard top?
Soft top?
Twin cam or single cam
2000-01 is when hard top engine changed
And 2001 is when type approved cats came into play

I did not even consider to buy the original one, just bought a generic cat from a car part warehouse. they did not have the one with the hole for the sensor so I welded that in myself. And also welded the complete cat into the exhaust pipes under the car.
If you cannot weld yourself or adapt and mount a not so original cat you will find that you most likely can have a garage or better yet exhaust specialist do this for less than what the original cat and exhaust system cost. Friend of mine just did this here in Norway on his Jimny. The part cost of the original parts are so high it kind of makes the alterantive by getting it to a garage for an "easy" job very cost effective.

You either need to buy a complete exhaust end to end or you need to find the exact manufacturer of the exhaust you have in order to get the correct part.
This is because they are all designed to fit the mounting positions for the model/year they were designed for end to end, but the individual broken down sections are slightly different from manufacturer to manufacturer
