A Quaife is the whole differential, you just fit the original crownwheel to it, so all you need do is set the backlash and preload, which is fairly easy (if time consuming), the pinion remains untouched. The gears have already worn as a pair so there is no need to try and adjust contact patterns by playing with pinion depth, which is where the real skill lies.
The only reason it "wouldn't last 5 minutes" is if the preload is way out (or the bearings were made of chocolate or something)

Thanks for your reply. I had spoken to these guys earlier today and got a really good impression on the phone. Looks like the diffs being taken out in wrexham, driving the diffs to sheffield and then back to wrexham. I am completely happy with this solution as both ends recommended. Looks like we have a plan.
