Hi,

Almost like a switch has been thrown the DAB reception has gone downhill about 2 or 3 days ago.  There are some not spots round here for the independent stations which seem to use a lower transmitter power, but these have grown and the once solid BBC stations also drop out.  I have done a search and there doesn’t appear to be any faults pending on the local masts.

is anyone aware of any problems, like a fuse or setting to the antenna amplifier?  I checked the aerial, it was tight and still there with no signs of corrosion.

Does the head unit have a signal strength indicator anywhere and does anyone know if the antenna connectors are easy to access?

Cheers

Robin

This happens for many of us here in the stupid country of Norway where there is no FM. Most often antennas loosing their amplifier or bad ground or who knows.

The sound quality on the not so main channels are so awful so I actually gave up on the whole radio transmissions and either use the DVB-t at home or stream by 5G cell when travelling.

Mainly spotify now.

Yes, on both my Jimny and my Range Rover plus the Range Rover was very much across the country as I have been to/from Liverpool recently

I see they are moving to DAB+ this spring/summer and some older radios will have issues, possibly this is the problem with the 2015 Range Rover?

I am thinking it is likely to be a connection. A couple of stations I listen to moved to DAB+ a few months ago and the Jimny, just retuned and was working well.

I am not sure how difficult the connections are to get to, but will check the DAB+ in my other car to see if it as flaky in the same areas.

I also have a pocket spectrum analyser and a SDR radio which covers the frequencies, so I could check for weak signal, in case it is the local transmitter.

After that I will need to gain access to the back of the radio and check connection/signal strength there.

Yep can't really pick up anything very well in my Jimny as of recently. Also my phone is no longer pairing to the car automatically anymore. I've tried to resync them together but once i've turned the car off it no longer pairs. I really need to ugrade to a touchscreen in the lcv.
