Hello greetings from Turkey. I have a 2007 model automatic vehicle, the p0741 warning light is on. The transmission was revised, the solenoids were checked and the torque converter was opened and checked. There is no problem with the system, but the warning light comes on again after a while. The only problem I can see is that after the 4th gear, when the speed is fixed, it was shifting into gear the next day, but it is not shifting. This is an additional problem in the vehicle. Other gear shifts and downshifts are problem-free. What do you think could be the reason?

There was a translation error. After the 4th gear, the torque converter does not reduce the speed. It was acting as if it was a 5th gear before, now it is like a 4th gear.

P0741 is a torque converter clutch circuit code.

What would normally happen is after the transmission shifts into "top" gear, once the vehicle speed stabilizes, the transmission control unit (TCU) engages the torque converter clutch (TCC) which locks the torque converter up preventing it from slipping.

Not everyone notices this, but, there will usually be a slight drop in engine rpm (a few hundred rpm) when the TCC engages, so it can appear as a fifth gear on a four speed automatic.

The code can be caused by wiring issues, a defective TCC solenoid, blocked passages in the valve body or an internal torque converter issue.

Yes. My problem is that the TCC is not engaged. It is shifting to 4 gears but the TCC is not locked. The torque converter was sent to the repair shop and the repair was done and it was confirmed that it was OK. The solenoids were checked. The mechanic said that the problem may be related to the transmission brain (TCM). Is there such a possibility?

The code can be caused by wiring issues, a defective TCC solenoid, blocked passages in the valve body or an internal torque converter issue.

Yes, the TCM is a possible cause, but there are others.
