fire extinguisher bracket

I picked up a fire extinguisher mounting bracket for my Gen4 from
Kap Industries in Oz
.
It mounts the extinguisher in the footwell. I wanted it in easy reach of the drivers' seat but didn't fancy the idea of an eye-level mount.
The bracket is shaped to fit the Jimny's floor pan. I then bolted a FIA-standard extinguisher with over-centre buckles. Can get to it in an instant but no worries about it coming loose in an accident. I have it on the passenger side-- it sits to the aft of the copilot's heels when she is sitting normally, or she can rest her feet on the extinguisher when that is more comfortable. Overall very unobtrusive, and uses otherwise unusable space. The Kap fellow has a video of it somewhere on youtube.
The brackets are not as cheap as a DIY solution but in my opinion worth it. I was motivated to post this because they are having a sale today, 10% off with code CELEBRATE10. I have no commercial interest, just a satisfied customer.
In my rather long driving career I have needed an extinguisher in the car only three times, never for my own car. (Touch wood.) You may never need it, but when you need it, you need it.

I have mine mounted on the passenger rear roof grab handle bolts. Up out of the way and an easy grab from my seat or the boot. Accidents happen all the time, danger doesn't take a day off!

I have had use of mine too but, not on my own car and it must have been in the nineties. Stopped a Ford Granada wiper motor fire.
I have mine mounted in the back out to the side. It fits nice and snug inside the pocket/arm rest in the side above the rear wheel. (gen3) It is just screwed into the plastic so not sure if it will come flying if I was in a head-on collission so guess I cant recommend it.

You need to be careful with over center latches behind occupants' heels - I've had problems with the extinguisher in my Navara mysteriously coming loose - then I discovered it only happens if my grandson is in the back seat, the latches are just about where his heels fall.

You are absolutely right, and it took some thought in setup. In the end I found an extinguisher mount with extra-long levers on the latches. They poke right into the rubber footwell mat, and you have to get a finger under them to lift them.
Anytime you put something at foot level, you have to think about shoelaces. You don't want an extinguisher coming loose, of course, but myself I was more concerned about the boss lady getting a bootlace tangled on exiting the car and doing a faceplant in the carpark. That would be more dangerous to my health than any fire...
