Also off road it burns it really fast in 4x4 so I leave it in 2wd, then put it in 4H for 90% of off road stuff on the fly when needed and only put it in 4L for the really tricky stuff.
That suggests to me that you were using 4x4 when you didn't need it. The system is part time, and designed to allow shifting into 4x4 on the move at up to 60mph so you can easily slip into 4wd if needed and then back to 2wd as soon as possible. The extra fuel used when in 4x4 reflects the extra wear and tear put on the drivetrain.

A bit, just to test it out, but I've done the same with the jimny that I did with all my other 4x4's and the jimny is the only one that has burned that much fuel.
