So, something has finally gone wrong on our previously faultless 2020 Jimny SZ5.
The "MUTE" button often doesn't work on the steering wheel, and then it will suddenly start working. And also the radio volume up/down is sometimes unresponsive and other times will work fine.
On the same switch console (steering wheel LHS) the "INFO" button works fine and the left/right arrow buttons are okay as well.
l assume it's the switch unit. Is this available or is it part of the steering wheel?

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Could be the switches, could be the spiral cable (clock spring), seems a bit early for a failure of either though unless you have starship mileage on it.
Has something spilled on the switches, or they've been sprayed with some magic cockpit shinerupper fluid that has got inside them?

lt's only done 20,000 miles and nothings ever been spilt or sprayed on the steering wheel.
Last night the mute and volume were random, worked sometimes and not others. The other switches were fine.

I agree with Facade that it could be the switches or clockspring, and also agree that it is not at all common for these to fail at such low mileage.
(Unless you spilled your tea all over the steering wheel recently...)
It could also be a problem with your radio and/or its connections. The Bosch SLDA unit is fairly notorious for early failure, for one. And if the only problems on the steering wheel buttons are with specifically radio-related functions, then the problem may be at or closer to the radio itself. Just a thought.

I didn't spot that the INFO works but the rest are intermittent, so yes it is very likely the Bosch unit (in it's Nissan form it is known as the LCN - low cost navigation for a reason ).
Mine is pretty rubbish, it can't see any satellites most of the time, even though I cover it with the Pingi bags when parked to try and keep the sun off it, and the dabs is worse than useless...
