Replied by rogerzilla on topic Is this the correct front grill for a 2020 SZ5?
It's an accessory grille but no idea if it's a genuine Suzuki one or not.  There is also a really retro one with script lettering.

As stated by rogerzilla, Suzuki do a grill like so, but so do Jimny bits. I have the later, but without the name plate.

It's an extra cost accessory on all gen4 models. There are also some copies in slightly different colours

Thanks everyone. Just been to see this car.... and bought it, so good to get the feedback on the grille. It probably was ordered with it and also has mud-flaps, heated front seats, a tow bar, all of which look Suzuki fitted.

It seemed to have a steering damper, are they standard fitment?

It also has a snorkel, a TJM Airtec, seems Jimnybits sell them, are they any good?

The garage didn't know why the snorkel was fitted, I suspect for style more than anything. It didn't make any noise except when at about 2,000 rpm and trying to pull hard it made a bit of a sound, still I should have probably changed down at that point.

Snorkel

All of which means I will be looking to sell my Gen3 in the next week or so, if you know anyone interested?

Congrats on the purchase. An SZ5 is a good buy especially as they get older. They come with steering dampers and the heated seats as standard. The dealer or someone would have fitted bits from the urban pack so that was the grille and rear wheel cover. The TJM snorkel is popular among Australian Jimnys and gives a more traditional look. It was probably bought for looks like most of us do with are cars. I’m surprised you’re selling your Gen 3. I thought that was a keeper? I guess that means you’re bringing the Gen 4 to the meet now.

Thanks James,

I told myself I didn't want an LCV and thought I would wait for a hybrid, but this car cropped up 'out of the blue' and was just too good an opportunity to miss, even if it was more money than a new LCV.

Sadly, I can't keep two Jimny's my missus would go spare. Anyway I already have another car and my wife has her own, so the drive is already over-flowing.

Pity, because I have enjoyed my Gen3, especially making things for it that made it better to own, still I get to start all over again with a Gen4, although there doesn't look much to be done on this apart from tyres.

And yes, I will be in my Gen4. With a bit luck someone on here will be interested in my Gen3 and bring that as well.

I will sort out a 'for sale' ad in the next day or so.

I’m also starting to give up on any kind of Jimny hybrid and if there is it probably wouldn’t be for another 2/3 years anyway. It may have cost more than an LCV but will be worth more than an lcv as they depreciate and better spec, cheaper insurance/tax bracket etc make it no brainer. Plenty of stuff you can do to the Gen 4. The Suzuki Jimny JB74 UK group on Facebook is a good group to see other builds. Jimny style also sells tons of accessories for them.

Thanks James, Martin and everyone else, all really helpful. I found a list of original extras and the packs, you are right the grille and cover came from there, the tow bar is genuine Suzuki as well. I forgot, it also has a reversing camera and the rubber mats, so a reasonably well loaded Jimny.

Plus it was registered in June 2020, that must make it one of the last batch?

I got quoted £330, fully comp with recovery, against £250 for exactly the same cover for my Gen3, not too bad, since it’s worth 3 to 4 times as much.

I will be swapping my Maxxis and most likely seats in to the Gen 4, not sure after that, but I am sure I will be eyeballing everyone else’s goodies at the meet.
