Hi,
I have new front EBC Green Stuff discs and pads to fit, just waiting for the right day to get both done together. I had the front of the car jacked today and noticed that whilst the passenger side spins easily the drivers side has slight resistance that comes and goes.
I am assuming that the drivers side disc is slightly warped but could this also indicate that the drivers side floating calliper is starting to stick?
From setting off in a morning I do notice what appears to be a flat spot on a tyre, but by the end of the street it’s fine. Perhaps it is the drivers side calliper sticking slightly after all, what do you think?
I know when I do the discs and pads, the calliper has to come off but would just like to know in advance if I have to deal with a sticking calliper as well and therefore allow extra time, I would really like to get the job done in one day.

The slides on the single piston calipers are awesome. If you like freeing off and cleaning awkward, badly designed things that could and should have been done better. I check mine every time I have a wheel off which is about infinity plus 1 too many times. I'm not a fan.

The drivers side sliders were stuck, the front worse than the back, but they came out with the assistance of a hammer and a drift. Generally the drivers side was covered in dust and muck and the bolts were slightly stuck.
The passenger side was much better, the sliders weren't stuck, but all of them were removed, cleaned and re-greased with Lithium grease.
A good day's work, pictures on 'What did you do to my Jimny today?' thread.
My other car has Brembo fixed callipers with opposed pistons (one each side), you really appreciate how much better this is and they are quicker to remove as there is only two bolts holding them in.

If you mean you greased the slider pins that go inside the convoluted boots with lithium grease, check on the can that it is formulated for use with rubber, if it isn't- remove it now!
You should only use rubber safe grease on these, as the base used for standard lithium grease will swell up the rubber which does two things
1) seizes the slide pin solid
2) costs £££££ for new rubber boots.
Silicon grease is ok if you haven't got rubber grease, never use copaslip near rubber either.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Since discovering silicone grease mine have been better actually.
i have been through most of the stuff that do not help before.
But the design is a blast and a celebration as Lambert says.
The things we do not understand we should just admire..

Re the flat spots on the tyres, my Gen 3 suffered terribly with them when I fitted Michelin Alpins (I run my pressures at the low end to improve the ride). After a couple of days parked up it was like driving across a ploughed field at first, then it faded away after a couple of miles.
The Gen 4 doesn't suffer, but the Bridgestones seem pretty stiff to me, and the TPMS throws a fit if the pressures drop below "rock hard"- it might as well have solid rubber tyres like my old tricycle...

You are right it is Silicone (a polymer), Silicon is an element and semiconductor used in the manufacture of ICs etc.
Interesting, your name for Silicon (silisium) is similar to Selenium, that was an early semiconductor now only used in some photo cells (light detectors).

Same here; silicon and silicone are quite different things. Silicon is the element used to make computer chips, but silicone is an organic polymer containing silicon atoms, usually slippery and unreactive.
