Getting wd40 off? was created by Lambert
My old man has, for what I can only assume is senility, sprayed my drivers door stay with wd40 because "it squeaked",  it now won't hold on anything like an incline or gentle breeze. How do I get it off so that the door will hold again?  I have wiped it vigorously to no effect.  I suspect it is all over the mechanism in the door so probably something I can spray?

May need a new one if the 'bump' has worn off

Clutch and brake cleaner from local car parts or euro car parts will get it off. Safe enough on paint etc and not going to fill your door with water and freeze. Important at this time of year. Normally I would suggest a degrease agent and a good water with a hose, best in summer.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

I have some brake clean, I'll spray it in the morning.
