Jimny start problem was created by Adaminternational
Hi group. Please help me
I have a 2000 Jimny with petrol engine, manual.
I replaced clutch and now the car wont start.
It makes a small clicking sound about 4 times from (I believe starter) then nothing. The car started fine before clutch replacement.
I did accidently cut the wires to the sensor on gear box what I believe is rear light switch, did resolder but still nothing.

Clicking is usually the starter motor not been able to draw enough current, the voltage drops and it trips out only to repeat.
Do all of the lights dim as well?
If this is the problem either it is a flat battery or a poor connection on the starter cable/earth strap/battery terminals.

Thanks for your fast response
The clicking is very low sound, I have tried with booster and different battery, the problem is the same. I never removed or disconnected the starter from car for the clutch job, I checked the ground beside the starter and all seems good. Is there any ground on gearbox I may have disconnected as I can not remember? About the dining I have not checked but the stereo and dash works when on position 1 ign. The immo light is on but maybe that is normal when not started?

If you lay under the car and look upwards at the starter motor you should see a small wire connected to a spade connector. Check that is on and has good contact. Then check the small earth wires that run to the intake manifold. 2 small black wires going to a 10mm bolt at the back of the manifold, hidden underneath the engine wiring loom.

I saw the black connector and it was on, checked the ground and it was good. The manifold grounds have I missed, will check those.
So this looks like ground problem? I have no fault codes either
