Starter Motor for 2009 was created by Aldridge
Hi all,
I'm new here and hopefully someone here knows the answer. My daughter has a 2009 Jimny, which won't start. I have "diagnosed" that the starter motor needs replacing. Entering the Registration on various websites tells me which starter motor I should buy, but the first one that has arrived appears to be far to big to fit in the small space available. The current one is lablelled at Mitsubishi. My question is, should I be looking to replace the existing one with one the same size as the one taken out, or am I being led down the wrong path, and try to squeeze in one that is recommended by AutoParts or Halfords. Is it possible to fit one with an attached stud, or do I need one that is fixed using 2 bolts, as the one I have wriggled out?
I would love it if someone just happens to have a part number!

Does it look like this?
If so that likely the part number you can see on the side plate in the photos. Or these are selling a few used, no link to them myself.

I can also recommend Parts in Motion either direct or on eBay, they are very quick, helpful and have good prices, they also seem to have the correct parts.
Just put you registration in and it will show you the options.
You can check the OEM part reference here
catalogs.ssg.asia/suzuki/?lang=en#bWFya2...Ymdyb3VwSWQ9PTU4MTA3
It suggests it is 31100-80G10 although I am never quite sure if the parts catalogue is exactly right for the year, but I don’t think parts like this changed much year on year.
The alternative is to ask Martin at the BigJimny store (banner at the top of the page) he will know and might even have a starter motor in stock.

Thank you everyone. We went to Parts in Motion with the OEM number, and they sorted us out straight away, supplying the correct sized starter motor first time - unlike Halfords or AutoParts who still list the wrong size items for this car!

Good news, it’s how it should be, right first time. Glad it worked out especially as we recommended Parts in Motion.
