I would check the transfer case brackets and mounts.
what is the bracket with the orange bushing?
Gear shift lever?
other mods?

Transfer is sj lobster sat in a bomb proof rock bucket
mounted on series landrover engine mounts
the orange bushes are austin mini exhaust bobbins.these replace original rubber ones makes gear change better imo
not been any issues till i got more airflow into the engine 1.6 seems to be giving out all the extra hp now
only catching under extreme acceleration
Riccy said it's because transfer box sits higher (but didn't do it before air intake modification)
I think it's possibly old tired engine mounts allowing more twist under acceleration

It’s probably engine mounts as you suggest. However, it’s normally transverse engines which rock backwards and forwards under acceleration, I would have thought an in line engine would rock side to side, so the drive shaft is less likely to move much. I am not sure what the clearance is normally, perhaps is is quite close.
Just one other thought, where it is catching, is that attached to the chassis or the body? If it is the body, perhaps a body mount has gone?

Have you checked the rear engine/gearbox mount? See if you can lift the rear end of the gearbox at all. I seem to get through them fairly regularly.

You need to re-think the bracket that supports your mini mounting. Where it is catching is so close to the joint that a small change in mounting position will probably be enough to solve the problem. Maybe remove the bracket, fill in the hole with weld and re-drill.

Will remove prop and see if I can get grinder in and widen the arch shape bracket first.
I have a spare bracket somewhere with gear linkage on to check if moving bushes is possible
Thanks for the input guys
