It's occurred to me that I might be interested in some traction boards mostly because I saw some at the weekend that were at a price far too good to be true, they were either hot or such cheap knockoffs as to be worthless. So without going into debt with the orange ones from Australia are there any brands out there that are budget friendly and won't fail just by being driven on flat on the floor?

I'm a big fan of waffle boards. You can pick up a pair of 38mm waffle boards on eBay for around £40. If you use them to bridge a large gap they flex and creak a bit but I've never seen one break.
The only down side is that they pick up a lot of mud.
I've seen some fairly critical reviews of the cheap ones, but only when tested with 2+ ton Australian touring rigs. I imagine they would be more than adequate for 1.1t of Jimmy
Jack, how long are those as I am thinking they would be best on my roof so need to be 1200mm absolute minimum? If they are then would next weekend be ok?

A bit of a late reply but mine are cheap ones and I've never had any issues. A friend of mine runs a digger business and has been known to even run fully loaded dumpers over them. His have some sharp edges where the traction surface has been a chewed up but apart from that they are fine.
I tried keeping mine on the roof but it's a bit of a pain to load and unload them in tight lanes. I ended up keeping them in the back and putting up with the mess.
Hi, I got some cheap ebay boards. Had for a few years now. They live on my roof rack. You can see on this link that they flex, but you can tell by the tyre there was some pressure put on them.
