2003 Jimny - please help on chassis condition. was created by PeterNorthern
Morning all
I'm still on the look out for a Jimny - but would be very glad of your help to know what 'good condition'.
Went and saw a 2003 jimny on saturday. 120k miles. And got the attached pictures.
Please help - does this look decent condition rust wise. Appreciate the boot is eaten right through, but does the underside look tidy? Glad of your advice please as want to learn.

Hi,
There are several rust spots on a Jimny, the fact that the boot has gone, suggests that body mounts, front behind the headlights, suspension mounts and under the wheel arches (it will have covers on) might all be at risk.
The chassis looks clean, but then it isn't the chassis which rusts.
There was only one photo of a body mount, it was difficult to tell if it was rust, but there was something on the photo that looked like bubbling up.
If it's just the boot can you weld a new section in? If not budget for getting that done at a garage.
I would check the MOT history of the vehicle here, see if it has failed or has any advisories, especially for corrosion.
