My first ever drive in a Jimny was on holiday in St Lucia in 2009. We hired a soft top for a few days and I remember working out how much fuel it was using as the petrol gauge went down quickly and didn’t want to get stranded or take it back with lots of fuel in the tank as it was expensive.

I didn’t think it was very good until I realised it was US gallons, it still wasn’t that good even after the conversion and this Jimny was in standard trim. Perhaps the roads, the low octane rating, it hadn’t been serviced, the vehicles age/wear and tear or my driving style were to blame.

Anyway, it didn’t put me off, 10 years later I bought one in the UK.
