Our 2020 Jimny has just been in for its second service at 2 years old (new in January 2020)

The first service after 12 months cost £199 which l thought was okay as they changed the gearbox/diff oils as well as the engine oil.

This time it's £270. This is obviously more than last time, is it about right? The vehicle has only done 7,500 miles.

Apparently the extra cost was due to it needing the brake fluid changing.

What are others paying for a main dealer service?

Mine goes in next week at 6,600 miles and £258. There is more to do at 24 months.

I know on the first service they change the diff oil. I know this because they were moaning because i have diff guards fitted. I thought the second service had less parts. I always have the pollen filter done due to living amongst the farmland of Lincolnshire and collecting a large amounts of bugs and assorted chaff.

lt looks like the charge to replace the brake fluid was £100. unless there were more checks to do than last year.
l suppose it depends on their hourly rate, l know my local Land Rover dealer charges £100+ VAT per hour.

Using my Sealey pressure bleeder l can change the brake fluid completely on my Defender in around 30 minutes.

Land Rover were changing £400 to service the Defender back in 2007, which is why they never saw it again once the warranty ran out. The local independent Land Rover specialist charged around £200 although l've done the service myself for the past ten years.

Sounds about right. Second service is meant to include valve clearance check and brake fluid replacement.

Mine has just had it's 3rd service which cost £270 including valve clearance which was pushed back from 2nd service. First service was £202, second was £309 which included fitting extended brake lines by no valve clearance check.

l suppose it depends on the mileage. There's no mention of a valve clearance check on the invoice, but it's only done 7,500 miles so it will probably get done next time.
