My experience with classic vehicles is it's the sound proofing inside the vehicle, ie doors, rear panels, floor, transmission tunnel and bulkhead that make the big difference. Under bonnet will change the sound level stationary a little, but once moving the inside panels take over.
The Jimmy is good for the very targeted sound proofing levels it has, but if you want better it's a full inside sound proofing kit and carpet out time to fit.
No problem fitting it if you want, it's the first part of a many panel kit, so you could do it bit by bit, but don't expect sound miracles with part 1

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

l have to disagree with the comments that the Jimny Gen 4 is noisy on the motorway.

Noisier than an executive car l guess, but certainly in our manual transmission version there's no intrusive noise at speeds up to around 70mph

l have never tried it any faster than that, we usually sit at 65mph where noise levels are perfectly acceptable.

Under load such as dragging a caravan on a motorway at 3000/3500 revs its gets very noisy, however I don't need any sound deadening to improve the cockpit sound, I just turn off my hearing aids....
