Good day fellow Jimny folks.

Me, again.

I want to upgrade my current 2 din radio to a 7" touchscreen one. Will this be fun/ challenging or will I be stripping the entire Jimny to do it?

I am looking at these available locally:

m.takealot.com/double-din-car-multi-medi...AvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

And this one:
m.takealot.com/4g-7-inch-multi-media-car...AvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Anyone did something like this on a 2012 Jimny?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I've not replaced a stereo in a Gen3, but based on doing a swap in my Gen4 and plenty of other cars, it's usually just a case of making sure you get the right wiring adapters and fascia trim.

You'll need a wiring adapter to change the OEM wiring to an ISO connection, probably an aerial adapter and whatever fascia/trim pieces are needed for your car. I used this site and they list the following for the 2012 Jimny.

It currently has a Jensen JCD-DD6BT radio installed. Does this one still use OEM? I'll have a look at the site and see where I can find these locally, but it won't be from a dealership right?

That will probably be on iso plugs and therefore relatively easily changed.

One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

I fitted an Xtrons double DIN head unit to my 2011 Jimny, it’s straight forward as the Xtrons have curved corners so fits the Jimny perfectly and the connectors matched up without problem.

I have had a few issues with DAB noise, but an abundance of copper tape and decent earthing sorted that out.
