Quick squirt through with the power washer

I think those plugs are waste of money, it keeps the water and all other stuff in as good as holds them out… worse part is that they prevent evaporation so I’d say no don’t do it

Just pushing them into place is not a good idea because they will leak. The seal lips "may" be OK but the tubes will not be smooth. If you do wish to try it you must use an RTV sealant and then remove the plugs at 12 month intervals to check the tubes condition.

On my LC I cleaned out the tubes and applied a coat of bitumastic paint using a long bristle brush. After 25 years tubes were still OK, whereas Jimny chassis tubes do appear to rot out.

My advice, forget the plugs, paint with the bitumastic and keep an eye on them.

Avoid would be my vote.

I had a look on Ebay the other day at what items were being offered as I hadn't looked for a while. My word 95% of them seemed to be utter useless tat!

I'm going to buck the trend - I've seen enough rotted chassis tubes to know that left open they fill with wet mud that starts the corrosion - I have mine plugged.
