Just drained and filled my gearbox and transfer box...added the stated capacities of lovely fresh oil, but it didn't run out of the filler hole....??? so I am assuming...stick to the stated capacities and the filler plug/hole is not the "full" point, so won't necessarily run out after the correct capacity has been added? Normally a gearbox or transfer box is filled until oil runs out of the filler hole.
But if you've added the correct quantity of oil, maybe the Jimny is different.
lf that's the case, it would certainly make refilling the gearbox less messy.
I have always filled to the level plugs on flat ground, reasoning that they put the fill point where it is because that is the correct capacity and I'd rather trust that than the questionable accuracy of my ability to measure a specific amount of oil laid on my back on my drive.
