Damned smart job, that!
Last time I did something like that was on a Citroen BX - made it from MDF to flush-mount speakers in and covered it in acoustically transparent carpet. It was complicated because the original BX rear tray incorporated rear window blinds which I also transferred into the design so that it looked totally standard - the improvement in quality of audio sound was astonishing
