I know a few of us think they are a bit too sensitive too so drop them an email - customerservices@suzuki.co.uk - and they might be able to investigate a little further, if they have had a few reports. Mentioning “safety” might have an extra influence.

Bill Portland wrote: I’ve been in touch with Suzuki GB regarding the auto headlights switching on and off quite quickly when driving through (not particularly dark) shadows and that it could be misinterpreted by oncoming traffic or traffic waiting to pull out from a side road, into thinking you’re flashing them and allowing them to pull out. They haven’t had any other reports of this, and they say it’s not adjustable, so they aren’t able to do anything about it.

" Dear Steve,
Thank you for your recent Email to Suzuki Customer Services.
I have spoken with the Suzuki Technical Department, they have explained that unfortunately, there is no way to adjust the sensitivity, there is only the option to turn off the automatic setting. I would advise, if you feel that there is an issue with the vehicle that you allow your nearest Authorised Suzuki Dealership to investigate. They would then be able to report any findings to our Technical Support Team for further review.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to contact us and reassure you that your concerns have been logged on our database; which will be inputted on to our factory report.
I am sorry we are unable to provide you with a more favourable response. In the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us again should you require anything further in the future on 08085 011959, option 3.
Kind regards
Marc

As we thought. Lights set to "off" for daytime driving.

Mine went from AUTO to OFF on the way back from the dealer, exactly the same behaviour as the [strike]Renault[/strike] Nissan- they come on even in solar flare conditions instantly with the slightest shadow, but take ages to go off.
Annoyingly, on the Nissan Connect version of the Bosch unit (with knobs and buttons on) you can knock out the display going into night mode with the lights, on the Suzuki version (with greasy fingerprints all over the screen) you can't.
With them on OFF you don't get the "features" like the lights all coming on in the dark when you press the plipper.
I suspect I will join the other "no lights in the dark" drivers though, as the dash lights up for no reason all the time, and usually I put the lights on when I can't see the speedo, which will never happen now......
(And while I'm whinging about the speedo- why is it on the wrong side, and why does the rev counter have 10 20 30 40 etc. on, not 1 2 3 4? I keep looking at the wrong one  )
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
