I agree with what you are saying, but if I encountered problems I’d remove the camera before approaching the dealership. The one they sell isn’t full of special voodoo magic parts it’s the same as most decent dash and but several hundred percent dearer.

Cc Baxter , it’s a principle thing I can afford a camera from stealership I purchased the car outright. Paying over the odds for something doesn’t sit right.

Hi, sorry to chip in on an old thread.
I was hoping to fit one of those combined rearview mirror front and back dash cams.
I did it easily in my '06 Jimny, just splicing into the reversing light wire.
I had the back of my Gen4 Jimny today hoping to do the same, but just couldn't figure out the wiring, and wondering whether to take the entire light cluster backing off behind the reversing light and go for it.
Were the whole unit not absolutely caked in thick mud, I might have bothered. But I was hoping one of the two wiring blocks more easily accessible might have a wire I could splice into.
Has anyone done this successfully yet? Cheers!

Hi,
I am trying to fit the Suzuki reversing camera to my Gen4 but have got stumped by not being able to undo the wiring connector for the rear bumber.
I have spent ages trying to press the plastic latches but to no avail. Can any kind person give me some tips please?
Rob

I seem to remember it was very tight on first removal. It required a combination of squeezing the latches and prising with a small screwdriver. They may have used some kind of sealant on assembly, I'm not sure. Chris

Yes, its a real pain, here are my tips.
1. Give yourself some room, try and lift the rear of the car on ramps or axle stands.
2. Clean out around the release tag. Make sure there is no mud stopping the mechanism
3. Wash it around with WD40
4. Trying pushing the connector in whilst initially squeezing the tag
5, Keep trying, it is painful but it will come.
