On a similar vein, has anyone found a larger radiator that fits within the same space/mounts as the standard Jimny. Larger as in greater surface area so either depth or surface design?

I think I am the victim of a cascading failure. I have just zip tied my fan and its further stabilized the temperature to between 86 and 90 .Im about to order a new viscous coupling.

Please tell me that this situation is different in the new Jimny!
I had a similar stat thing on my Junior where it ran cold and a new stat sorted it - turned out there was a choice of summer or winter so I fitted the winter one (well this is England though going by this month's temps I am starting to wonder) and the motor ran nice and cosy. Here's the thing, it was a cinch to get at.

Lambert wrote: The more I have used it today the more and more I have been thinking it's behaviour is like it doesn't have a thermostat. Except i know for a fact that I put one in. I have a genuine one to collect tomorrow, after that it's getting a box of matches and a gallon of petrol!

Once you have done it one time it's not actually that difficult to swap the thermostat wit a selection of wobble bars and flex drive extensions and a strong magnet on a stick, you don't have to disturb too much of the rest of the motor. Mostly you need patience and you can be running within the hour.
