Facade, in your dreams in most country's there are higher taxes on larger engines. The UK is only one market. Suzuki are not designing for the UK only.

Suzuki are by and large a small engine company look at the range of cars they sell and the Turbos are more expensive than the non Turbo and the Jimny sits below the Vitara so I'm afraid a small engine

Martin, I am starting to agree with your vision as the pictures I have seen seem to have a very similar undersides to the present car. I have the feeling they are not going for a mini Chelsea Tractor but an inexpensive 4 WD Jeep for the Asian and Indian market with as you say a slightly tarted up model for Japan, Australia and Europe.

For Europe read Ignis which is a more consumer friendly car and will sell in numbers as the vast Majority of Jimny's never go off the road in Europe.

That's a good point. I have come to like not having to select four wheel drive and so I like it permanent. I like the go anywhere concept of 4x4 but now I don't do fields selectable appeals less compared to twisty roads in the wet and of course go anywhere still applies. I'd want the bigger wheel version with big tyres.

Our Jimny is the good ladies car.

I drive an Impreza which is constant 4WD. I have no interest at all in it being switchable as that gets in the way of using the car.

I don't think there's any hope of Suzuki fitting anything bigger than a 1.6. Done right the 1.0 turbo will have a much better bottom end and midrange than the small na engines. Top end will probably be flat but most people never go there anyway. Would be quite tuneable too.
