Perhaps do both, go out to England through Italy etc, taking the ferry and return with the trailer driving across Bulgaria as the trailer would add a higher cost to taking the ferry on the return.

The route I think would be to Sofia and thro on to Athens for the return.

One way or the other, the longer trip is tempting. But savings on the Greece to Italy ferry would be negated by higher fuel costs and at least one more night in a hotel.

Removed rear seats and installed a plywood and rubber floor. Not sure what to do with the seatbelts though.... pics attached...
