Your 8x4... do you mean the box is 8ft long by 4ft wide? Meaning the length including A frame would be about 10ft? Do you find this is manageable? And how tall is it? I'm bothered by the prospect of cross winds... the Jimny's a light vehicle and could presumably be easily affected.
Finally, do you have a max recommended towing weight to suggest? In theory I cold make any trailer very heavy, but I do only have a 1300cc engine...
Thanks.
Yes, overall length is about 11 feet, so similar to the Jimny and overall width is much the same as the Jimny. Longer trailers are easier to reverse and it is wide enough to see in your mirrors which is very useful! With a smaller trailer you will not even be able to see it so there's no chance of reversing it. A tall trailer will be ok if you can still see out of the rear window. I regularly carry a tonne in the 400kg trailer, so over the Jimny's 1300kg towing limits but it handles it fine on short trips on flat Norfolk roads... However on a long trip I wouldn't want to tow that much weight but unless you are carrying paving slabs and bricks I very much doubt your possessions will come close to that! My trailer is very low- less than 3ft, so side winds aren't a problem but a box trailer would be a better option for security and if you stuff needs to be protected from the elements.

I'm having real problems finding something that fits this spec.
As for braked or unbraked, I have no idea how to hook up braking. How does that work?

I drove my Jimny from Newcastle to Varna Bulgaria (2.500 Miles Approx I think), Had it stuffed to the gunwales and a Halford top box on the roof. I weighed all the stuff as I packed it in came to almost 200 kgs. As regards the top box I stuffed it with lightest (mainly clothing) I had no problems doing the journey. 80 mph on the autobahns. Slept in it too, sleeping for two hours and driving for six, made it in three days. No police checks or border problems.
Good luck with yours... Bytheway, which route are you taking?
Tony.
