What are the best extreme mud tyres? was created by Rowland
We use our Jimny for the farm so it is off road 95% of the time. It currently has Kumho kl71's on it that do grip fairly well, but they do get blocked up with mud when it is very wet like this morning! I plan to change them to Insa Turbo special tracks, do you think these would be much better or do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks

I run Insa Turbo Sahara's for pay and plays and for extended green lane days, and find them excellent off road, cleaning out mud and maintaining traction very well. From what I can tell, Insa Turbos have an excellent reputation for off road performance across there range. And if my Sahara's are excellent, then the Special Tracks will be unbeatable off road. :)

I run Malatesta Kaimans and used to run Kumho KL71's before and the difference is like night and day but they, like all remoulds, extreme patterns especially, come up much bigger than their size suggests.

You start to run the risk of breaking cv's if you are not careful on bigger sizes too. I run 215/80/15's and have busted a cv but just in muddy fields you ought to be ok.

Thanks for your replys, the kumho's are 31 x 10.5 x 15 and there is plenty of clearance so they should be ok. Would you go for the Kaimans over the insa turbos. How would the kougar compare?

+1

I had the Kaimans on my LWB Shogun and came second in a trial up against a load of LR 90's ;)

I don't think there's much in it between them. I got the Malatestas because they did the size I was after.
