Hi all
So, after fitting my cam sensor and looking for a crankshaft sensor I now have a squeaky motor.
Sounds like one of the pulleys. I fitted all new belts this time last year when I replaced the cam belt.
This always happens on startup even when warm. Squealing lasts for about 20-30 seconds then stops.
Very embarrassing first thing in the morning Q: is the fan belt too tight or too loose.
Any other ideas gratefully received.
Regards,
Ian.

Mine's done this for as long as I can remember. Tried slackening and tightening it, neither made any difference.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

It will be the alternator belt, the high charge rate at startup makes it slip.
The belt is too loose, but could just be dry and slippery.
You can buy belt dressing, or just spray a bit of pledge on the ribbed side of the belt to quieten it down.
Most likely needs a new belt, the ones ECP sell are not the best.......

My last jimny did that all the time, despite several belt changes and adjustments. As facade says its the high charge rate after start up. In the end i just lived with it.

I thought mine was the belt but turned out to be the clutch release bearing. Worth checking as it's an easy adjustment as I found out here:
