It's as easy to make some rails that bolt straight to the roof and do away with bars altogether. They only take a few moments to attach and remove.

My neighbour made this for me

:) absolutely perfect for my needs , and still able to unbolt it in a few minutes .

I have the same issue. I went to the spare parts company and asked for new pieces.
they told me that I should buy all the roof rack( plastic piece and aluminum bar and the rear aluminum piece) for 275$ for each
side. so both roof racks will cost 550$. so i went to an aluminum workshop and gave him the plastic pieces .he mades aluminum pieces both cost me only 40$.
I came home and drill some holes for the screws(marked green in the picture) and the cover small teeth(marked yellow dots in the picture). spray it black paint. after 3 hours I put it back on the roof.so now I have new STRONGEST roof racks.

Not too sure what I'm looking at.....the improvement looks to have eluded you.

is that white stuff glue?
