Thanks Jonesy

I had seen the guide, but it looks a tad daunting! I suppose it's probably easier in the flesh once you've got it in front of you. Need to get myself a garage with a lift. And a bearing splitter, and a welder...!

I chose the garage in question as they do regular work (including kingpins) on a couple of fairly serious off road Jimnies, and the owners keep going back there. And they've done good work for me before for a reasonable price.

Do I need an additional oil seal to go with the big jimny kingpin bearing kit? The genuine Suzuki item seems to have two oil seals - one for the swivel (45120-81A02) and one for the half shaft (09283-26016). The big jim kit only has one seal, the half shaft seal. Do I need a swivel seal too, or is the half shaft seal the important one?

Cheers all.

Ah hah - I've just found this: www.bigjimny.com/store/index.php?_a=product&product_id=152

This suggests two things. a) The swivel seal is expensive and b) it's just a dust seal, so probably not necessary to replace it?

I think my garage may be thinking of replacing both seals...

I doubt their planning to do the swivel seal aswell, I know they are expensive not sure exactly how much tho. And yes it is just a dust seal.

I work at a Suzuki dealership and the bearings and seals you can buy from the bigjimny shop are the EXACT same as you get delivered from Suzuki the bearings for Suzuki are around £30 each you need 2 per side on here you get the bearings for one side for £30

Cheers chaps.

Apparently they do need to do the swivel seal as well, and the whole lot will only cost 70 or 80 from Suzuki. The mechanic did say that he's used the big Jimny ones before and they do wear out quicker...? Not sure about that, but if the whole lot needs replacing I'll just let em do it.
