I'm fairly sure it will just have the standard transfer case. I bought it completely stock off an old lady. I haven't gone 120km/h in it but I sit at around 3500rpm doing 100kmh.
Still got the standard vacuum locking hubs. And my tyres are hankook dynapro atm. Not a super aggressive tyre at all.
I was expecting the auto to be worse on consumption but not this much worse.
Thanks for the suggestions I will add them to my list of things to check on Wednesday.

I wouldn't say the mileage is excessive at 150k (92000 mls) but the top end could be getting worn or it's not been serviced well?
If a general full service doesn't improve it then look at a compression test and try some injector cleaner as the injectors may be clogged up a bit??
You could also try a code reader to see if any faults show up on the various sensors

Give it an Italian tune-up on super unleaded (for the extra detergent, not because the extra octane helps) and hope the piston rings don't break.

How do you find the on-road handling at 35psi?

Or why not run them at the correct pressure of 23 psi front 26 psi rear?

Ok, I run wider tyres with lower profile for normal driving, 225 x 65 directional tyres and they stick to the road. Perfect tyres for the Jimny on-road and good road-holding characteristics. These tyres are best suited to the higher pressures. These are the tyres you see on my car when it has mags on. When the car has Sunraysia wheels on, which are lighter and stronger, then I have the 80:20 tyres on. Vastly different to my off-road tyres which I put on for long trips on dirt roads during my 2-3 trips a year in South Oz and WA. On these tyres, I bring the pressure down to 22 psi for comfort and then down to 15 when traction is required in hilly or muddy regions.
