Anyone use the Avo adjustable shocks on their Jimny's? I use the coilovers on my track car and can't fault them for quality. Think I'd rather have something stiffer for the road then soften off for the pay to play.

Why is it that everyone thinks you need soft shocks for offroad?

You need hard shocks for offroad, especially if you have a heavy winchbumper, winch, batties and such fitted.

If the shocks are too soft you'll bottom out way all the time, unless you drive 5 km/h over even the smallest bumps.

I've fitted Rough Country N2.0 shocks, and they're great.
Still cheap shocks though, like Trailmaster, ProComp, OME and AVO when comparing to Fox or King suspension. But great for the money. You get what you pay for :)

I've got them on my Jimny and have come to love them. :)

Worth the extra cost hastiekid? I was always under the impression that spring poundages played a vital role in preventing bottoming out TomDK, shocks are what stop the bounce from repeating.

No, the springs are only there to support the weight of the vehicle. Any spring can bottom out, just a matter force. And if your springs are too hard. Then it's just gonna be a harsh ride.

Why do you think top-comp teams, like Gigglepin, Acerni and many others spend fortunes on triple bypass shocks and hydraulic bump stops? The springs they use are nothing special, when comparing to the shocks they're using.

Springs are NOT the vital part of a suspension setup, the shocks are.

They were for me but I'm a bit of a fiddler. Now that My springs have had time to bed in properly (TrailMaster 3") I have set the shocks how I like them.
