Nope..
Jim Marsden runs a 5.0 Petrol V8.
But not long ago he ran TD5 diesel. But that was before KOV and KOH.

Almost all top challenge/trophy teams in europe/UK run petrol V8 now.
Just look a the winch challenges in Australia. They all run some sort of petrol V8. Diesel is just too slow running. And a 300-500 bhp V8 has plenty of torque for any situation.

Philon who's was at KOV runs a TD5 and goes very well. Think with the new style of events like KOV/KOP a lot are going for v8. A v8 can run in water just depends what is had done to like mega squirt ect have seen some ls engine running fine in deep water.

Another popular engine outside the UK is the toyota 15b 4.1 diesel was a lot at KOP running it and they were very impressive.

Diesels have more torque than little petrols; Big petrols have lots of torque and lots more power to go with it.

I doubt a modern diesel is any better in deep water than a petrol. The electronics on a modern diesel are far more complicated than a petrol for a start. Then you have expensive injectors, injector pumps, turbos etc. which aren't designed to be submerged and are expensive to replace. The old days of petrol cars getting damp distributors and conking out are long gone!

I expect a lot of the challenge trucks re running either Lexus or Chev V8s. A Chevrolet LS1 5.7 V8 is very compact, light-weight and will make nearly 400hp in standard trim. You can also get 6.0 and 6.2 versions of the same engine, all new and unused in a crate for about £4,000. What's not to like?!

Not at present as still mid build but was before hand, wiring side is pretty straight foward and easy to control autobox as can wire it with the solenoid to make it stay in gear ect.
