After some axle stand time on the drive way, with the jimny having a new front axle (bent original at mud monster winch challenge), rear disc conversion, starter motor replaced and service, it was time to play in my back yard, Salisbury Plain. 60 miles of pure green lane. Fun was had.

Mostly i took over a kilogram of unnecessary guff out of the glove box, pens , cd's, a lot of wires, string, nuts and bolts, a spoon? all that stuff that makes a bid for freedom by hiding away until you forget you ever had it. Now I just need to do the boot and i recon I will halve my 0 to 60 time.

I actually did something meaningful to the car today. A while ago i mentioned I was having trouble with the slides on one of my front calipers so had investigated and found that 2 of the rubber bellows had holes in them. At the time i didn't have any replacements so I could only clean and relubricate. Subsequently i got a new repair kit off Martin and that sat on my shelf for a few months while an opportunity to fit it arose. Also in the meantime i have been suffering from a horrible feeling brake pedal and have been chasing that through the system. Anyway finally got a bit of time and set to. Once stripped down there was a bit more cleaning of the front most slide to do but it has come up ok. What is evident is that the slides in the kit while basically the same as the existing are actually 0.42 mm undersized which is significant. I didnt feel comfortable with that so I have reused the old ones after a good clean. However the rubber bellows in the kit are perfect and whilst a bit of patience is needed to fit them they work great. I don't want this to be taken as a dig at Martin or the parts he supplied as he did at the time of purchase query that they might have been for a slightly different caliper and I bought them anyway as I needed a set of bellows and all ways round this is better than going to the main dealers and assuming the position.

Net result, nice break pedal. Yay!

My Jimny was looking a bit neglected as the red paint was starting to fade quite a bit on the roof and bonnet. I didn't want to look like barbie driving around in a pink jeep so I thought I'd give it some TLC. The result:

It took me hours, so I'll be annoyed if it fades again in a couple of days time.

Hi friends,
added a fleecy dash cover to protect it a bit from the merciless sun in Taiwan...
now only looking at it makes me want to lay on it and take a nice nap, to cozy....
