Today I blanked off the vacuum hose from the intake manifold and shorted the vacuum switch, so I now have a nice solid green light again after fitting my manual hubs. Thanks to whoever it was that made the guide!
Was it me??
I think it actually was! Cheers!

I had considered buying a signal splitter which would allow me to use my CB aerial as both but I decided to take a look at the aerial and low and behold discovered it could be extended out to double the length!
Radio reception is now perfect!
And I also adjusted my clutch cable as the biting point was right at the top of the pedal and there was no free play, easy 15min job to take the cable off, clean and lubricate and then refit and loosen. Makes a big difference to how it drives too.

irishguy123 wrote: Well I fixed my dodgy radio reception problem today! Like an idiot I hadn't realised that the aerial was extendable since I bought it from the previous owner half extended. The reception was OK sat still but on the move it would always fade in and out.

Those CB aerial splitter boxes really do improve the reception 10 fold though and your CB aerial is a lot hardier than the car's FM radio aerial! Glad you got yours working good though - there's nothing worse than a crackly wireless!

Seeing as how the aerials seem to break easily I think I'll run it until it breaks and then go the splitter route! Did you get it from thunderpole? Them seem to be the only source...

Yes I did get it from Thunderpole. Their service is great and I usually wait till I have a few bits to order from them to make it cheaper with the postage.
You can get them elsewhere. Just look up the Thunderpole item and google the make and model number and you'll see all the other suppliers, including on eBay - of which some are cheaper. I just know where I stand with Thunderpole so get things from them, knowing it will come next day if I ask it to and it will be top quality kit.

To be fair they are actually quite easy to fit, I used a little dab of glue to keep the spacer in place and they fit fine over the top. The real problem is getting the old bolts undone, mine were rusted on solid. Eventually after rounding the bolts off, I gave in and hacksawed the end off! At this rate I should be finished by september!
