It's not as deep as it looks that ford, it's just that when you go in there's a big dip down but you climb out it straight away and the rest of the crossing isn't as bad (unless there's been a lot of rain :pinch: )

Fording a river isn't usually too bad mate. You're hopefully in and out pretty quickly and river water is reasonably clean. It's muddy/silty/shitty water such as in a bomb hole that could potentialy cause problems.

With a petrol or any modern engine it's the engine electrics that's probably the biggest concern (as long as you've got a raised air intake  )

which is what i found in my starter motor!

liberaly covering connectors etc under the bonnet in WD40, silicon spray, vasilene (not sure how that will deal with heat being petrolium based) etc is about all we can do to prevent electrical damage.

Yeah I just use spray grease and blobs of that maxima grease here and there. Never been a big fan of wading really, like it less in the Jimny lol... The trooper I had was the proper old school 3.1 diesel - no ecu / very little electrics - nothing much to worry about at all with a snorkel fitted. Water getting in through the hubs was always a pain though - of course you don't have to go very deep for that to happen.

Same ford last weekend, done it a few times in the Trooper but it seems deeper in a Jimny
You can look forward to this one on the NY Moors Christmas run I reckon B)

Hells teeth thats abit deeper then id be comfortable with in a jimny  fair play tho, we have a crossing down this way called lamerhoe and its a ford across the river Tamar, its about 75ft across with an average depth of 2-3ft without any rain. Been across it a couple of times in the landrover but have never had the bottle in a suzuki

i've been through that ford after heavy rain and the marker said 3 1/2 foot but the markers higher than the deepest part, so it was actually deeper

the river was flowing and the back end got a bit skitish with the pressure but made it through,

in regards to electrics i dont do much and in that ford i started to short the battery as it started flashing the dash lights at me, but soon as i got out the other side it was fine, my bum holr was nipping in the middle mind thinking the car was about to die

I had a thought of doing them more often and moving the top two to the bottom and new ones in the top as my top were fine but bottom were knackered

yea thats a good idea, tbh im keeping the top 2 as spares granted they have wear but will do for the spares box as a just incase, bit of a weak spot id say and my tyres are only small compared to the norm.
