What is my car ?

Hi , I dont know if this has been on before?? my logbook says my car is Suzuki J 413QB JA SAMURAI but it is a Jimny, it is 2000 reg, are these the same car ? (sorry for being a bit thick) when I tried to order a radiator it was different and wouldn't fit and to get insurance its saying the model of car is up to 1995 when I put my reg in. Would be grateful for any advice or input. Thanks.

It really sounds as if you have the wrong logbook for the car.

First of all, I assume you are talking of a UK car?

The Jimny and Samurai are different cars from different times in the UK (Outside of the UK many countries called previous models in the SJ range "Jimnys")

The Samurai was around until 1995/1996 although you can find the odd one as late as 1998. The Jimny was from this date onwards.


Can you tell us the first part of the Chassis/VIN number?

Tell us the number from both the V5 form and the number actually stamped on the car. This will give us more information. If you send me the full VIN number I will tell you what car Suzuki think it is.

Which one have you got the one at the top samurai jimny, or the one at the bottom jlx jimny.

Its the bottom one.

Check the vin number under the bonnet is the same as the log book if it is, you need to get the DVLC to change the log book.
It should read D1 make suzuki, D2 model type jimny jlx, D3 body type convertible.
If it's a soft top.if it's a hard top some one on here will let you know what D2 and D3 are.
