There was someone selling one of the official plastic ones on here the other day (along with a load of other bits.)
I have one and personally think they look the best but they offer no real protection and do get in the way off road a bit...

I haven't tried any bars but I like the look of the xrox and the offroad armoury ones.

Here's the xrox one
4x4andmore.com.au/shop/index.php?main_pa...h=20&products_id=275

And there's also the ARB one too..

I don't know what any are actually like though..

Haha if you want to make it high tech you could just bolt a plank of timber to the front.

Ahh Australian aye.. Haha. I'm from Nz so I have the same problem with getting parts as you!
Try your local engineering and see what kind of thing they could do for you. I'm sure a box of XXXX goes a long way there aye?

Yeah I don't know about the airbag compliance stuff. I think it's like, if there is a frontal impact, the airbag sensors need to be able to operate the same as with a standard bumper. Or something along those lines.. Don't quote me though as I don't really know. :)
Haha. I think if I offered a sheep to anyone here I could get anything. But in saying that, Australia actually has more sheep than Nz. :)
