I would personally choose a solution to cut out the grilles below the headlights and install the auxillary lights there.
However, my DDiS Jimny has an intercooler just behind the right grille below the headlamp.
Therefore, I had to decide for the first (classic) solution, to mount them onto the bumper, between the headlights.
The only remaining issue is electrical wiring.
There would be two possible solutions:
1. Wire them to the existing headlamp electrical installations, so that they turn on automatically when I turn on "long" lights. That would approximately double the current consumption, and would require a higher rated fuse. Might the el. installations overheat and catch fire?
2. Install completely new el. circuit for the aux lights, and install a switch for them next to the switches for the rear and front fog lights (there is one blank switch there). Where to find a proper switch to install instead of a blank one there?
Ring make a quick fit wiring kit with all that is needed (apparently) to fit driving lamps. Their way of doing it is sort of both of your ways together, it wires the new lamps into the full beam circuit but with an isolator switch so you can put you full beams on with/without your new lamps but if you have your new lamps on they switch off automatically when you go back to main beam. the kit does come with a second inline fuse, relay and the wire should be rated also, so this should stop any overheat/power surge problems.
