It has come to that time of year again. My insurance renewal has come through, alot more expensive than last year, but I'm using a mainstream company and none of the mods are listed despite being told about them. So, what to do? Any specialist insurers give good quotes for modded Jimny's?

Can't help you has you are in UK and I am in Ireland, but I was very lucky when insuring mine, I told them about the mods and they did not charge any extra :)
Best of luck anyway

Ring Adrian flux get a quote then ring Sky (yes they do car insurance) and say adrian flux has quoted me x,y,z and they should do better then go back to adrian flux.

I did that three times then ended up with sky got a very good quote as they both support modded 4x4's :)

Just insured our 54 jimny last week

Went with Aviva. Cost £228 fully comp with 3 mods declared, wheels, driving lights, towbar.

If you go via quidco you can get £30 cash back at moment. I was lucky and got it on a promo and will get back £60 which makes for a cheap deal!

www.quidco.com

A really useful site, I have had over £400 cash back now for stuff I would have purchased anyway.

You could try Frank Pickles was with them with my disco all mods declared eg 3" lift, snorkle, winch bumper, winch, extended arches,33" tyres etc was only £214 fully comp-zero rated policy so no need for no claims.
Just swapped over to the Jimny I've just bought with no probs at all.
I think all they require is that the 4x4 is modified and you have no serious convictions-they even cover you for green laning as long as your with a local 4x4 club and it's a club event.
