help before mot please

seems quite common but cant find much about it but reverse lights dont work bulbs are ok and
i dont have a electrical tester,a problem that i have found online is the reverse switch,ive had a look under the car and cant find it, ther is a connector that goes to something top the drivers side at the top of the gearbox but i cant see it proply but i dont think ther is anything for it to unscrew or any thing,has anyone got a pic of the connector and were it goes thanks.

Reversing lights are not a part of the mot.....

Probably corrosion in one of the connectors near back wheel- folow wiring through fromlights,you can buy stuf from Maplins that improves conductivity of metal contacts which is very useful for this sort of problem

thanks i thought they would of been part of the mot, will check the wiring anyway.

My other car hasnt had a reverse light for about 3 years... never failed an MOT on that!

The spray mentioned above is contact spray. I keep meaning to get some for my towbar electrics

I don't have a reverse light on my jimny as they are now indicators, just cannot be bothered to fit one, will do one day maybe.
Don't need it for the MOT.

Check the white plug together connector at the back of the engine just where the engine meets the gearbox. The sensor you mention is the reverse sensor and these wires go to it.

But as others have said its not MOT stuff

Same problem for me in my ST170! Its intermittent though now. I've tried to find the switch to replace it but i'm arsed if i can find it. I've looked as hard as i can from above, i'll have to lay under an reach over the top.
