Delete this thread as its an admission of guilt

Aside from all the lectures of knowingly driving on private land, as above technically its his word against yours. Doesn't mean you won't get a visit. Pleading ignorance may work but i doubt it, i'd be apologetic and offer to formally apologise to the land owner.

I removed massive club stickers for similar reasons, a group had driven off the legal lane and a group from the club used the same lane later in the day. The landowner used the club name on the trucks to contact the club chairman to complain heavily.
I tried to eliminate ways to make it easier for anyone to track me down.

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!

You will need to tread carefully:

Road Traffic Act 1991:

1.No mechanically propelled vehicle may lawfully proceed more than 15 yards from a road, unless it is moving to a recognised parking place, without the landowner’s written permission.

2. Any motor vehicle off the public highway but in a public place (i.e. where the public may have access, including anywhere within a circuit or stadium) MUST meet the full Road Traffic Act requirements (except that Motor Tax need not be paid if not on a publicly maintained road) and MUST be driven by a properly qualified and licensed driver, who is insured under a road risk policy.

I'm guessing a lot will be down to the circumstances and what you were doing...

lets be honest, if you went to the police with someones number plate saying they had quietly driven across your field without permission I don't expect they would do an awful lot about it.

HOWEVER, if this has been an ongoing problem on the farmers land and he has complained to the police multiple times already then they may take the matter more seriously. Particularly if there was a big group of you or the land/crops/livestock has been damaged because of it. If the farmer has a problem because all his tracks are now swamps because of trespassers then you may have an issue...

Its very tempting to just go tootling around fields when you know you vehicle is capable and no-one is about. But it was a bit daft to be doing it.
