Not really an evolution of the Jimny. More a replacement. Still it looks like it'd be good for the school run, shopping and parking badly at Tesco like all the other smallish 4x4s.

Is it known that this will be the replacement? I really doubt it is

Its Swift on big wheels and built on a road car chassi rather than a 4x4 chassi. So this says its a total replacement .
But I do agree sort of, it would look OK with a lift kit winch and some nice off road tyres.

The news links suggest that it isn't a replacement for the Jimny maybe the SX4, however time will tell? Size wise it is just a bit bigger than the Jimny and slightly shorter than then 3 door vitara. All large car manufactures are jumping on the band wagon to try and emulate Nissan's success with the SUV cross overs. In Suzuki s case they want a bit of the Nissan Juke market, which the XA ALPHA concept will fit in, it looks a bit like a mini LR Evoque, it is speculated that it will have a 1.6 petrol and a small 1.3 diesel engine if it goes into production. If you look carefully at the picture you will notice it has two doors on each side, the back ones are suicide doors that open backwards
The link below has some car news and video reports.
