Hi Folks, n00b here just got my jimny a few days ago. Not even had time for pictures yet!
It's a metallic blue x reg manual hard top, has a few miles, but with some work it should do all that I need of it.
Where can I get cheap AT tyres?
My jimny will be used mostly around quarry and farm tracks. I haven't decided whether to lift it yet.
The kid in me wants massive tyres and stratospheric lift, the middle aged scrooge in me wants to keep it cheap. :lol:

Welcome along!
For what you want it for I would go for a 2" lift and slightly bigger tyres.
Have a look at Kumho KL71's as a quiet hard wearing mud terrain that you may be happier with than a all terrain.
Ruts will be where you get stuck on farm tracks.

I agree with kirknut - you can get some good MTs which are also good on the road for less than the big name ATs
As well as the Kuhmo also look at maxxis trepadors at about £80 as they get good reviews

I see on bits4vits they have a 1.5" lift/spacer kit. Is that easy to do for someone who doesn't have a garage to work in?
Do I need to compress the springs?
I was also thinking of some wheel arch trimming to accommodate the bigger tyres. My jimny is currently wearing bridgestone duellers, 2 of which need replacing soon.

Fitting a 2"or 3" lift.
If you got a set of longer brake hoses fit them first.
Next
(WD40)all the nuts and bolts on the shocks for about 2 days before starting.
Start with the back axle,undo the wheel nuts a little,then jack up on the chassis on both sides and lower on to axle stands as near to the radius arms as possible , so the tyres are about 2" off the ground,now remove the wheels.
Next place the trolley jack in the middle of the axle, jack it up so you can remove the nuts+bolts from the shocks.
Next lower axle down and remove the old springs+shocks, you might need a mate to help you fit the new springs+shocks back on, or a length of wood to lever the axle down to get the new spring on.
Now do the the front the same way as the back.
When your finished CHECK all the nuts +bolts+ wheel nuts are tight.
