Best tool I find is my cordless 1/2" impact gun, I couldn't live without it!, And a good whack always helps with the hammer.

The trouble is that there is no room to get much beyond a spanner in there.

I have tried to take them all out and grease them with waterproof grease every now and then but will see how successful I've been with some of them next week when I change my shocks and springs.

I also have one radius arm bush that has failed prematurely to replace.

I find drilling many holes around the rubber so you can push the centre out, then cut the rest of the rubber out using a sharp implement and violence until you only have the outer ring left. Then carefully hacksaw through that and knock it out with a chisel.

If the bush is proper knackered the rubber won't put up that much of a fight. Still takes ages and I usually have breaks to prevent anger/boredom setting in and have nothing to burn them out with + the Mrs and neighbours would object along with my lungs!

The worst bolts seem to be the rear shock top bolts as there is no room and they have captive nuts. It's gently gently bit by bit plenty of wd40 with those!

The radius arm bolts if seized I just put a ring spanner on one end and turn till it's wedged on the axle, shell or chassis and use a breaker bar till it's undone or sheers. I always use new bolts and thus hope they sheer for speed! I now have a long old torque wrench for that, which I no longer trust the torque setting values on and use it as a breaker bar with ratchet.

I once used a nut splitter when it went round and round but have cut them off also with a grinder.

As Martin says, no manual tells you all this!

Get on the Bigjimny shop after having a count up of what you need and order a new bolt and nut for those that aren't captive and have them to hand before you start. Then you can just cut them off if needed in half the time other ways take!

Grease all the new ones up with the grease available on the Bigjimny shop too.

As for answering your question of how long it will take directly - as I always tell my Mrs each time I start work on a car - How long is a piece of string. She still bloody asks though!

Martin, I got the top rear shock bolts out with my Oxy acetylene gear (perks of being a gas fitter), had to burn out the rubber bush then cut the bush casing to remove the shocker to get access to the bolt (bush dowel was welded to bolt !).
