How much????? was created by Keefe
I've been offered a motor, not a Zook but don't know what it's worth.
Anyone any ideas?
It is a MB M Class.
It is the AMG model with the 5 or 5.5 litre V8 motor.
It is a 2001 with lots of toys etc.
Always serviced on time.
80k miles.
Been well looked after.
Only a couple of things, one of the fog lights has condensation in it and it has silly wide (standard) road tyres on it.
Oh, and it's blue.
I know it's no good for off roading, just want something to tootle around in, in stead of my 200.
It does between 6 and 19mpg, that's ok, I can cope with that. (Stuff the greenhouse!)
So just wondering if you guys had an idea on what's it worth?
Cheers
Keith

In Oz we refer to the "Red Book" which is an Almanac of prices for vehicles on Oz Roads. It gives the prices for buy and sell according to condition and age and is a pretty good guide to that sort of decision making.
I would think that the UK would have something similar, maybe try your Road Service mob for name of the references.

check out "Caps" or "Glasses" guide for a guide for car prices. be careful though, Unless its stupidly cheap, those M class mercs have been known to suffer from gearbox problems which can cost £000's to put right. My mate had a ML270 with the full AMD kit on it ... had it for 4 months and when his service revealed a possible gearbox issue he was advised the repair to the box was going to cost more than the £5000 the motor was worth!

Mmmm. Ouch.
Me thinking at £4,500 it could be one to pass on?
I do like it though.
The V8 is so sweet, sounds very nice, even if a little subdued.
When you floor it, it seems to squat down on all corners, dig in and shoot off.
Mind you, it should with approaching 500 horses under the bonnet.
Expensive though if as you say, the gearbox decides to go 10-1 on me.
There's no issues with anything at the moment and the only reason he's going to sell it is new house, baby and cost of running it now that he's married, fathering and DIYing...
Oh well, watch this space........Heart or head, eeny meeny miny mo.....

if he needs to sell it then I'd offer £4k if you think the cars ok - could always have an AA inspection on it to be sure there is no big costs looming
traders on autotrader want £5k for them so knock of their £1k profit............
